Keeping Up with Monifa Kincaid Fine Arts and Prints
Monifa Kincaid of Monifa Kincaid Fine Arts and Prints has been known for her uniquely made artwork. With her self expression and natural creative talents, Monifa has been able to pursue her dreams as an artist. Whether her art is created on paper or digitally, Monifa uses nature walks, dreams, meditation, and her youthful stories to inspire her art pieces that come to life.
“My business mission is to create work that has a message. My work allows people to resonate with their inner self and draw on deeper feelings. Anything that draws emotion and meditation promotes a healthier mental health.”
In July 2020, we were given the opportunity to personally speak with Monifa about her business and entrepreneurial journey in our blog article, Monifa Kincaid the self taught artist creating artwork from meditation experiences. Now, we had the chance to catch up with Monifa to see what she has been up to!
What is in store for Monifa Kincaid Fine Art & Prints for the upcoming year of 2022?
For 2022 I will be focusing on watercolor portraiture and creating another coloring book or journal. I have set goals for myself to create more work for my clients whether that be digitally or with media like watercolor or oil pastel.
Check out one of her beautiful watercolor and ink art pieces, Fears in my Youth.
“When I was little, I used to think that if I swallowed a watermelon seed or a seed from any fruit, it would somehow start growing out of me. In this work, it’s growing out of her ears.”
Monifa gives us a sneak peak at how she conducts her artwork. She takes us on a journey as she works on a piece from her popular series, “Her Black Body”. “Our Black bodies are strong, soft, vulnerable, graceful, sensuous and spiritual and I want to reflect all of this with this series. This piece is done in oil pastel. This is work number 2 in this series.”

We are so excited to see Monifa’s progress and grateful to get a first-hand look at her process.

What impact do you want to leave on the community by hosting events like Make with Makerhoods?
“I want people to remember that creating art is fun and it is a great way to release stress and mentally give ourselves a little pick me up!”
